The Dutta Corp Fair Hill International Three-Day Event celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, hosting the U.S. Equestrian CCI3* and CCI2* Fall Eventing Championships and the USEA Young Event Horse East Coast Championships when it returns to Fair Hill, Maryland, October 18-21. Located at the pristine Fair Hill Natural Resource Management Area, Fair Hill International awards $50,000 in prize money.

The Board of Public Works unanimously approved a Maryland Department of Natural Resources item that will authorize $1 million for design improvement services at Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area in anticipation of the Cecil County site hosting a newly-designated, international equestrian event.

Boyd Martin emerged as the leader of the competitive CIC3* division Friday after dressage at Fair Hill International with the Long Island T Syndicate’s Long Island T, earning a score of 26.3 in the 12-year-old Oldenburg/Thoroughbred's (Ludwig Von Bayern x Haupstsbuch Highlight) second start at this level.

Fair Hill International in Elkton, Maryland (Area II) hosts four USEA recognized events each year in April, May, August, and October, offering Novice through Advanced levels as well as CIC*, 2*, and 3* divisions in the spring and the USEF National CCI2* and CCI3* Championships and USEA East Coast Young Event Horse Championships in the fall.

Elkton, Maryland, December 21, 2017 - In July 2017, the U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) approved a recommendation to award an eventing CCI4* (4*) competition in 2019 to Fair Hill International (FHI.) FHI's bid for the prestigious 4* resulted from a multi-year, state-wide public and private sector collaboration.The USEF's recommendation for Fair Hill International was expected to be considered for approval by Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) at its General Assembly meeting in November 2017.

Foxwood High has only jumped one clear show jumping round this year, but Selena O’Hanlon has been focusing on that phase with John and Judy Rumble’s 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Rio Bronco W x Evita 2) to make the clean rounds happen. Her hard work paid off in spades today as show jumping clinched her the win in the 2017 Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International CCI3*.

Susprite Syrius cantered into the show jumping arena with two rails in hand, but he didn’t need them and jumped a flawless round to earn the 2017 Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International CCI2* title. The 9-year-old Trakehner gelding (Titulus x Slytely Cinnamon) owned by Sunsprite Warmbloods first partnered with Tamra Smith as a 5-year-old and she has brought him up the levels.“I’m thrilled,” said Smith following her win. “He was perfect in every phase and I couldn’t have asked him to be any better. He show jumping like a million bucks.”

The second veterinary inspection at the 2017 Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International Horse Trials is complete and 26 horses will be moving forward to show jumping in the CCI3* and 53 horses in the CCI2*. All horses passed the inspection in the CCI2*. In the CCI3* Muggle, the Phoenix Syndicate’s 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding ridden by Nilson Moreira da Silva was held and not accepted upon reinspection. Kevin Baumgardner’s Wembley, ridden by Tamra Smith, was held, but passed upon reinspection. Clayton Fredericks withdrew Kingfisher Farm’s FE Ophelia before the jog.
