“Up with the sun and never done,” is Carolyn Mackintosh’s personal motto. Mackintosh is one of the founders of the United States Eventing Association’s (USEA) Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP), a pioneer for the Eventing Volunteers app, owner of Loch Moy Farm, and organizer for every show at her farm including the Maryland Horse Trials (MDHT), combined tests, dressage and schooling shows, and the Twilight Eventing series. With a jam-packed schedule, she finds comfort in knowing her volunteers are happy and feel appreciated with the help of the USEA’s VIP Program.

It always helps to see a warm and friendly face when heading to warm up for that all-important test or jump round. In this series, the United States Evening Association (USEA) is partnering with Athletux to feature those around us who help make these events happen, the volunteers. Without them horse shows and programs could not succeed, and these volunteers go above and beyond to make sure every rider feels comfortable and confident. The man, the myth, the legend: Michael Smallwood was the United States Eventing Association’s (USEA) 2017 Volunteer of the Year. The first year this leaderboard and award has been offered Smallwood surpassed expectations with 221 recorded volunteer hours at USEA recognized events. A pioneer for the USEA Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP), Smallwood is a friendly face at events and a hero for organizers, competitors, and everyone involved in an event. ‘Make sure to thank a volunteer,’ and that you should when it comes to Smallwood’s unwavering commitment to the sport of eventing. The USEA checked in with Smallwood to see how he's been doing after his big win of the national title.

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) announces a multi-year partnership with Sunsprite Warmbloods. As the Presenting Sponsor of the Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP), Sunsprite Warmbloods is generously covering the cost for all USEA recognized events to use the EventingVolunteers.com application for the next five years! The application allows event organizers to post volunteer positions they need filled. Volunteers can easily sign up for shifts directly through the application, and record their hours for the USEA Volunteer of the Year leaderboard.
