The Red Hills International Horse Trials took place last weekend amidst a backdrop of Spanish moss at the Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park in Tallahassee, Florida, and horses and riders came out to shake off some of the winter cobwebs and kick off the East Coast FEI eventing season. The USEA was on the scene and got to capture some glimpses into the special moments of the competitors, take a look!

The leaderboard may have shuffled around a bit as rails dropped all across Chris Barnard’s show jumping course this afternoon in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Advanced division, but no one could touch Waylon Roberts and Anthony Connolly and L. Skey Levely’s 15-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, Kelecyn Cognac (Fusaichi Pegasus x Dreamland) who led the division from start to finish.
They placed fifth in 2015, 10th in 2016, and now they sit poised to take the win in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Advanced at Red Hills International. Waylon Roberts and Anthony Connolly and L. Skey Levely’s 15-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Kelecyn Cognac (Fusaichi Pegasus x Dreamland) remain at the top the leaderboard following the second day of competition at Red Hills after adding 10.8 cross-country time penalties to their first-place dressage score of 29.8.

Little and Jacqueline Mars and Phoebe and Michael Manders’ 13-year-old Oldenburg mare put in one of only six double clean show jumping rounds this morning before setting out on cross-country, where they jumped clean and picked up 10.4 time penalties on a day when only one rider in 33 starters made the time.
